Marsèll marks a new chapter in its ongoing exploration of the intersections between fashion and design with a new collaboration with Danish designer Frederik Fialin. Rooted in a shared vision that prioritises material exploration and the use of innovative techniques to shape new ideas, the project centres on the Calypso Light. Initially unveiled during the Everyday Exquisite exhibition at Berlin Art Week, the lamp has now been reinterpreted in bigger, oversized proportions and clad in leather.
The Calypso Light exemplifies the harmonious balance between form and function, encouraging viewers to reconsider the boundaries between everyday objects and art and underscoring Marsèll’s commitment to design as experience. The brand’s rust leather is used for the lampshade, offering a sensory interplay that adds tactile and visual depth to the object. The natural texture and flaws of the leather invite interaction, while the lamp casts a soft, atmospheric glow that warms the space, creating an intimate ambience. For this special installation, Marsèll and Fialin present three leather-clad Calypso Light floor lamps, alongside two oversized suspended versions designed to fill the flagship store during the festive season.
