Every Lie Has an Audience
Via Paullo 12/A, Milan
Marsèll hosts the group show Every Lie Has an Audience, a combination of artistic practices that observe, deconstruct, and comment upon the complexity of the present.
Organised by Attilia Fattori Franchini and Felix Gaudlitz, the exhibition is named after Georgie Nettell’s Every Lie Has an Audience, and features works by Claire Fontaine, Seiko Mikami, Stuart Middleton, Georgie Nettell, D’Ette Nogle, Tiffany Sia, Davide Stucchi, and Nikhil Vettukattil. Using a broad range of approaches, the works in the show make critical use of subversion, paradox, reaction, brutality, ambiguity, romance, and humour to criticise an over-mediated and financialised present and to speculate on alternatives for dissent. The project turns the entire Marsèll showroom into an immersive space that not only attracts people from the art world, but also connects the audience to contemporary discourses, urging visitors to reflect upon the radical shifts that are happening in our world. Art and culture can inspire thought in endless ways, open up new perspectives, and provide new stimuli even in strictly regulated and economically closed systems. With Every Lie Has an Audience, Marsèll continues its active support of young artists and creatives, honouring freedom of expression in its most authentic form.
